Mark your calendars! This years Toronto Vegan Food and Drink Festival - Summer Edition - is happening August 19th, 2017 from 11:00am - 7:00pm at Fort York Garrison Common in Toronto.
This all ages event is in it's 3rd year in Toronto and features leading purveyors of 100% vegan bevvies and eats for your gastronomic pleasure accompanied by live music by a variety of bands. Those 19+ will have the option of partaking in vegan alcoholic imbibables.
Past vendors have included such local and international favourites as: Tori's Bakeshop, NONA, Doug's Public Kitchen, Pleasantville Creamery, Cardinal Rule, YamChops, Vaffles, Dishum Dishum, Wood & Water Foods and Bloomer's to name a few; Doomie's (of Vegan Mac Daddy fame (pictured above) - a rif on the classic McD's Big Mac), and Charlie's Brownies have also made an appearance.

24/7/365 Fresh Farm to Fork Food Coming to Toronto
There's some really exciting innovative food news coming, Toronto, in a year where we've already seen fantastic strides on the city's food scene.
Feast, formerly a food delivery company to some of downtown's hungriest has shelved its' core business for the time being. Their take-out offerings are currently available at Dineen Coffee Co. and Balzac's Coffee Locations across the city.
So what's in the works? New state-of-the-art fresh food kiosks are coming to the Toronto path in Spring 2017.

Ramps are another of the great forageable foods. At their peak in early spring, their distinctive leaf pattern and onion like bulbs are a dead giveaway.

A Fabulous Lunch At Pitcher's Place in Gore's Landing, Ontario. Two Young Chef's, Allan Gordon and Shanna Layton, have teamed up and relocated from Toronto up to Gore's Landing, a lovely little community on Rice Lake and on the way up to Peterborough, Ontario.
Oh the choice was tough. Everything on the menu sounded amazing. And then there was the specials board (see pic below). Meatloaf burger with aged cheddar and zucchini relish, drool.

But I already knew what I was having before I showed up. I came for the fish and By God I was going to have the fish.
Kimchi/Kimchee - King of Condiments. Seasoning of the Gods. Are you familiar with it? It is a traditional Korean condiment, and is used to describe a variety of recipes for fermented and pickled vegetables that are presented with a meal.
I am challenged to eat my vegetables. My meats, cheeses, other dairy, fruits - not a problem. Veggies, eh... not so much. That's why pickled and fermented works so well for me. I love the savoury.
